Health Benefits Of Tulsi Leaves
Tulsi is called the queen of herbs and is the sacred herb of India. It is called Holy Basil and has got the properties to provide healing balm to the body, mind and spirit. It is a panacea and should be taken in its raw form early in the morning with water to heal all kinds of problems of the body. It is available in mainly two colors green and black and should be grown in every house to purify the atmosphere at homes. Organic Tulsi (Holi Basil) tea is very healthy drink especially for respiratory organs.
Fever & Common Cold: Tulsi leaves are very effective for curing many kinds of fevers. Malaria and dengue fever are widely rife in the rainy season. It should be boiled as a tea to prevent these problems. Decoction of the leaves with cardamom in a half liter of water and sugar to taste should be taken to bring down the temperature. Even the juice of Tulsi is useful to lower the temperature. It should be given after every two to three hours.
Coughs: It is being used in cough syrups and expectorant to help mobilize the mucus. Fresh leaves of it should be chewed to get relief from cough, cold and flu. Tulsi juice mixed with honey gives quick relief in sore throat and cough.
Respiratory Disorder: It is very effective treatment for respiratory system disorders. A decoction of its leaves with ginger and honey should be taken to cure asthma, influenza, cough and all respiratory disorders. Cloves and common salt can also be added to get quick relief in influenza. It is very useful in asthma and bronchitis. Make a decoction using its leaves, honey and ginger for getting relief from asthma and bronchitis. Hiccups can be cured by taking its one teaspoonful juice with half spoonful honey two times a day.
Kidney Stone: Tulsi can give strength to the kidneys. The renal stones can also be expelled by taking its juice with honey. It may be taken for six months continuously.
Pain Killer: Tulsi has eugenol which is a powerful pain killer. Its pounded leaves mixed with sandalwood paste should be applied to forehead for getting relief from headache, fatigue.
Stress Remover: Tulsi has anti-stress, anti-depressant and anti-anxiety properties. Tea of tulsi leaves with ginger can be prepared to get its benefits. A healthy person may chew ten to twelve leaves daily to prevent stress.
Skin diseases: Tulsi is beneficial in treating many skin diseases. It has got anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, which helps to cure these problems. Paste of tulsi leaves should be applied on skin to cure it. It is also useful in treating ringworm infection.
Stomach Problems: In stomach problem, holy basil leave juice mixed with cured and a pinch of rock salt and roasted jeera (cumin) is a good aid for digestion. Continues use of it dispels problem of continuous wind and abdominal distension.
Along with these benefits there are numerous others, which are not yet known about Tulsi plant. In India, every home has Tulsi plant, considered as holy plant or God’s plant, and worshiped daily. Also few leaves are consumed by the worshiper. This is the part of Indian customs and culture.
