Natural Remedies for Diaper Rash
Babies have tender and gentle skin. When we use diaper for a long period of time, skin of our dear ones gets rashes. It is a very common problem faced by every parent who prefers to use disposable diapers. Skin rashes turn to be very painful. Actually, even the best diaper manufacturers also use some chemicals for making the diaper material more water absorbing. When these chemicals react with the soft skin of kids, they get red rashes. Also, when parents tie diapers throughout night for good sleep of their loved one, rashes generally appear on the skin.
You can avoid skin rashes by changing diapers at regular intervals. Always use better quality powder to keep the skin of your kid dry. Clean skin properly whenever you change a diaper. You can also use a variety of herbs like comfrey, fenugreek powder, lavender flowers, elder flowers, almond and vegetable oil, cornstarch, chamomile tea bags, witch hazel, St. Johns Wort, jewelweed, wild pansy, Aloe Vera and Calendula oil for protecting the skin of your baby from rashes.
The astringent quality of witch hazel helps in relieving the red, painful skin rashes. It has anti-oxidant property also and so is useful in treating sunburns and other minor skin problems of kids. You should remember that the skin of baby is very soft so always prefer to use fresh witch hazel bark in a minute quantity. Use sterilized cotton cloth to apply witch hazel mixture with water on skin. You can tie this cloth for half an hour.
Aloe Vera gel is also tremendous in treating sunburns and skin rashes caused by diapers. Aloe Vera has wonderful healing capacity for healing minor wounds and skin problems of kids. Aloe Vera has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal contents. It is also a good source of Zinc, Vitamin C and E, and folic acid that help in enriching the skin cells and cure skin rashes effectively. It is the safest herb that you can apply on the skin of your baby.
St. John’s Wort is a yellow flowering herb and it is inhabitant of Europe. It has been in use since times immemorial for treating skin problems of various age groups. Diaper rashes can be cured by the use of this herb because of its astringent property. It helps in recovering skin moisture and thus helps remove skin rashes.
Calendula, lavender and chamomile oils are also very useful in treating skin rashes and in giving soft and healthy skin to your kid. To make oil from these herbs, boil fresh herbs in a glass of water for some time till 2-3 spoonfuls of water remains in your pan. Simmer it again for 10 minutes and when it gets cool, apply the oil by using a sterilized cloth. You can use any of the above mentioned herbs for making oil for medicinal use. Such oil is also useful for curing sunburns.
Keep your baby in a good mood and clean him regularly to avoid every type of skin problems. Don’t use substandard chemical products but prefer using lotions, creams and oils for your baby that have been manufactured by a reputed and trusted company.
