Natural Herbal Fertility Treatments For Women
Many couples suffer from infertility. The reasons vary in each woman and man. It’s been found that 50% percent of couples suffer from infertility due to low sperm count, about 35% due to blocked fallopian tubes or uterine problems and the 15% suffer from reasons yet to be discovered.
There are many treatments available to help such couples. Natural treatments and herbs have been thought of one of the options. Although no herb can assure 100% chances of conception, but facilitate and improve the chances.
Herbs have been used for fertility and conception from historical times. Following are some commonly used herbs in different parts of the world.
Dong Quai Root (Angelica Sinensis): It’s a traditional Chinese medicine, regarded as fertility promoter. It helps to regulate the menstrual cycle. Dong Quai would be available as a tincture at a health food store or as Tang Kwei Gin in stores in local Chinatowns.
Dong Quai should be taken between the ovulation and menstruation. It should not be used during the periods and should be started again in the next ovulation cycle.
Red Clover Flowers (Trifolium Pratense): It has been used for hundreds of years to improve fertility. It’s rich in vitamins and minerals specifically easily absorbable magnesium and calcium. It has red cover which helps to balance the alkaline levels in the vagina and uterus and helps the sperm to reach their destination. It’s consumed by brewing like a tea. An ounce of red clover blossoms should be added to a teaspoon of any type of mint leaves and brewed. This tea could be intake any time during the day and even during the menstrual cycle.
Nettle Leaves (Urtica Dioica): This herb tone the uterus and strengthen the kidneys and adrenal glands. It contains chlorophyll and is thought of a tonic for feminine hormones. Its can consumed as tea or a tincture. It has to be consumed for a fairly long duration to get best results.
Red Raspberry Leaves: It contains calcium and is also very good uterine toner. It’s recommended for all women in child bearing age. It can be combined with other fertility promoting herbs too. It can be consumed as tea. The recommended combination to promote conception is ‘red raspberry leaves’ in conjunction with ‘red clover blossoms’ and a few drops of ‘Dong Quai’ tincture.
There has been lots of research done on women and herb but little is known about men and herbs. Pana ginseng is a traditional Chinese medicine for promoting fertility in men. Others recommendations are Vitamin E, Coenzyme Q10, and zinc sulfate. All these are over the counter nutritional supplements available at most grocery stores and pharmacy.
But it’s always better to get the consent of the doctor before embarking on any of these. As herbs help in improving fertility but they can have side effects as well.
