Home Remedies for Swimmers Ear
Swimmers ear is a kind of infection of the ear canal and external ear. Excess exposure to water is the reason behind this, as the moisture penetrates the water resistant layer, and it softens the skin. If this condition persist for long time, then the fungi and bacteria available in the water surface will give harmful effects to the skin. When dealing with this kind of infection, home remedies will be helpful, but the condition get worse, and then you must bought it to the doctor’s attention.

- Cleaning the ear canal is the primary step to get rid of pain and if you use alcohol for cleaning, then it will help to kill the germs.
- Mild infection in the ear can be treated with help of few drops of white vinegar. Put it in both the ear, and leave it in the canal for 5 minutes to drain, it is advisable to perform this activity for two to three times in a day.
- If the ears have clogged due to water, then use diluted apple cider vinegar using alcohol or water, after taking shower or after swimming. This will prevent in further infection.
- Put the drops of warm baby oil in each ear and place cotton ball over it to avoid draining of oil.
- Clean the water with the help of hair dryer to evaporate your ears; set the hair dryer to warm and sway the hair dryer across your ears. Proper care should be taken at the drying as it should not lead to any severe infection.
- Put the drops of liquid made with equal portions of water, white vinegar and peroxide in both ears, let the solution get dry and then put the cotton balls. It is advisable to do in the night time, before bed time.
- Warm compresses application is the most effective and popular home remedies recommended in the swimmers ear pain. Place the napkin between the heating flask or pad and ear and apply it for 5-10 minutes. This will be more useful if in case you do not have access to doctors or medical products.
- Rinse your ear with the help of saline solution can also reduce pain in swimmers ear.
- Garlic is a very natural and traditional remedy which produces good results. It contains allicin through which garlic gets antibacterial properties. You can make garlic oil with garlic or you can bring from any health store which will be useful in swimmers ear.
- 2-3 drops of tea tree oil or mullein flower oil can be used to cure ear pains, as both the oils have anti-microbial properties which help in soothing the inflammation.
- Onion paste powder can also be applied around the affected ear during the pain.
- Astragalus herb and St. John’s Wort are also beneficial in this type of ear pain.
