In winters almost everyone experiences the problem of itchy skin. Whenever our skin becomes too much dry and we feel itchiness. We apply some skin cream or body lotion on that part for quick relief. This method, unfortunately, is a short-term reliever. Moreover, in some substandard skin creams and other body lotions many chemicals are used that further cause itchiness. For protecting your skin from excessive itch, herbal remedies are the best solution.
Use of milk cream is advised in winter on a daily basis. A few minutes of massage with milk cream gives your skin a certain shiny look. You can wash your face with lukewarm water after massage for better results. Milk cream is easily available in kitchen and is the easiest and cheapest method for curing itchiness or dry skin.
Aloe Vera plant gel is a well-known name in the field of beauty care and it heals the inflammation of skin too. Aloe Vera plant is a good source of folic acid, zinc, vitamin C and vitamin E. All these are essential elements for healthy skin. For better results direct application of Aloe Vera gel to the affected area is suggested. If you don’t have Aloe Vera plant in your home garden, you can easily buy Aloe Vera gel from health food stores.
Chamomile herb is also helpful in healing itchiness quickly and shows long-term results. Due to its anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties, chamomile herb is effective in curing not only itchiness but also skin rashes, minor wounds and cuts. It smoothens the skin and gives it a healthy impression.
Witch Hazel is a great herb for treating itchiness, eczema, sunburns and skin rashes. It contains anti-oxidant properties. For magnificent results use fresh Witch Hazel and simmer one ounce of hazel bark in a pint of water. Keep it covered to cool down for 10 minutes. Dip a clean sterilized cloth in this mixture to apply it on the affected area. Leave the cloth for 30 minutes on that area. Witch Hazel works as an astringent and helps in healing itchiness.
The regular use of Neem leaves in bath water is marvelous for the health of skin. Neem leave oil and cream is also available in the market. You can use neem leaves to wash the itchy area. For this, boil Neem leaves in one cup of water. Keep it for some time and let it cool. Wash the itchy area with this water at night before going to sleep for better results. Neem leaves have many medicinal qualities so regular use of this herb is suggested for enjoying healthy skin.
Lemon and turmeric are also good herbs for curing skin problems. Apply the juice of lemon with turmeric on itchy skin and let it be on the skin for half an hour so that skin can absorb the juice in it. Afterwards, wash the affected area with warm water to soften your skin.
